February Snow Storm in the Chi 'Burbs

I have never seen snowflakes so large as this storm began.  What beauty!  Observing each  unique design as it floated to the ground permeated my inner being.  We do serve an Awesome Mighty God.  He is the ultimate designer of all things.

"...weeping may tarry through the night, but there is 'Joy in the Morning'." Woke up with a bad headache on my face, but feeling so blessed. An early morning walk while breathing in the crisp morning air was the best medicine. Good morning Sun. What a mighty God we serve!

The first major snow storm of 2012 in the Chicago 'burbs. It is currently 16 degrees and has been snowing for most of the day. One of the pleasures of being retired is the joy of looking forward to staying in my jammies all day if I like, then curling up with a book in front of a cozy fire. Do I miss that morning commute? No, no and no. There is just something about the peace that permeates my soul as I observe the quietness of the falling snow. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  The gently falling snow offers us a window into the ultimate Peace that is given to us through our Lord and Savior.  "Jesus is our Immanuel, Our God is With us...if  God is for us, who could be against us..."

December Morning 2011

A Moment in Time.

The peacefulness  of an early morning power walk around the lake.  How can anyone deny our awesome God?

Thirty Three years ago, my dear and precious friend, Jacki, gave me this ornament.  We worked together at Carroll County Public Library in Westminster Maryland.  That year, 1978,  was a most challenging one  for my family because lightening struck our home in June and we lost everything.  The entire community mobilized, and, through God's ultimate Grace, individuals and families that I did not know, supported us, encouraged us and supplied all of our needs. We moved to San Jose,  California in 1982 because of a job transfer for my husband, followed by another move to the Chicago suburbs in 1986.  As the years passed, Jacki and I  remained in contact with each other and would meet when I made periodic trips back to Maryland.  Each year when I place this ornament on our Christmas Tree, I reflect on our special bond of friendship. Friends are Forever.  Thanks Jacki, you are so loved with an everlasting love.
